3 Trends In Growth Marketing Every Digital Marketer Should Be Aware Of
Marketing is an industry of tomorrow and six months from now, not just what’s happening today or in an hour. We’re always looking ahead, thinking ahead, trying to be ahead of the curve — and our competition. Marketers lead, innovate and drive trends; those who aren’t paying attention are quickly left behind.
Here are three trends in growth marketing that your digital team needs to get more familiar with:
- Behold the power of video. From paid Facebook posts to those ever-so-important Instagram and TikTok influencers, videos are a key way to grow your audience, your reach, and your client’s name recognition. A great video with a solid story in a short amount of time, with interesting and engaging visuals, is one of the best ways to find new customers and reach even casual observers while driving curiosity. Shareable videos are the new email forwards (remember those?) and the more clever and creative you can be, the more your clients will see their reach expand.
- Embrace automation. Make things easier and reach more people by adopting and employing automation tools to deploy more effective campaigns. It’s a matter of understanding who and where your audience is, and automated tools can help determine your most promising prospects and the best place to reach them, nurturing those prospects and turning them into qualified solid leads. All it takes is reputable software for marketing, email, social media, and/or marketing analytics, with a little input from you on who your target customer is, and automation can take care of most of the heavy lifting. You need to reach the right people, but you need to do it at the right time to be effective.
- Be conversational and cause-driven. Humans are social creatures. We’ve developed a new appreciation for the role we play in each other’s lives, especially in the past few years, and even brands can make powerful statements about humanity and our need to take care of and be there for each other. Find ways to talk about the world and acknowledge what’s important to your customers, both the highs and the lows, and use language that’s both supportive and celebratory (as the moment demands). Demonstrate that your brand or client is in the same situation, and that we are all experiencing the full gamut of human emotion and experience together — this will make your brand relatable and therefore will drive favorable impressions and relationships. If you publicly support movements or moments, add your company’s logo to such messages and you’ll reach people who are of a like mind.
Lean into learning more about your customers and clients, understanding their priorities and the best ways to reach them and help them easily share your messages with their peers and friends, and see how much your market share increases along the way.
